Toshiba Corporation is one of Japan’s oldest and largest producers of consumer and industrial electric and electronic products. It is considered as one of Japan’s general electric companies.

We wanted to see what we could learn about Toshiba’s smart tv and how it’s being received by customers. We took 5 000 reviews from Amazon about the Toshiba Fire TV edition and ran them through Gavagai explorer. Some topics we found was really interesting.

Here are 3 things we found out!

The topic “screen” is the biggest negative driver in this analysis with an average grade of 2,67 / 5. The topic does occur in relation to topics such as “black” “cracked” “lines” and “broken”.

“Picture” is the highest occurring topic in this analysis and is also highly rated with a grade of 4,42 / 5. This indicates that customers are satisfied with the overall picture quality of the TV.

With a grade of 4,53 / 5, we can see that the topic “setup”, is the biggest positive driver in this analysis despite the small percentage of the occurrence.

What can we tell from this?

The topic β€œscreen” doesn’t necessarily have to mean that the screen is bad in any way, but this seems to indicate that customers are experiencing problems with the screen. Words related to the topic may provide possible guidelines as to what might be the problem.

The analysis indicates that the overall satisfaction with the product is high due to most of the topics being rated higher than average.

We think this analysis can be very impactful for manufacturers and might indicate where to focus on improvement and development.
